Tinder Now Lets Mom Pick Your Next Date

Hey folks! Tony here. Your friendly neighborhood Sr Enterprise Customer Success Manager at Data.ai. I typically work with our investment clients but I came across this interesting Tinder article that I had to share. Apparently Tinder now lets family and friends play matchmaker?!Thankfully I’m off the market, but please do not tell my mother about this feature! While the new feature is hilarious, it is a really creative way to add new users, increase time spent, and potentially add engagement from the non-single demographic. Creative feature that pulls on "industry" metrics to influence the product roadmap: "According to a study commissioned by Tinder, over 75 percent of young singles discuss their dating habits multiple times a month with their friends, so this just optimizes the process a little."I’d love to hear what others in the Community think? Has anyone tried this feature...maybe during Thanksgiving dinner?

ChatGPT makes its app debut to the tune of 5M iOS downloads

 As ai grips the world, ChatGPT increasingly becomes a household name. And this May, OpenAI released the iOS version of ChatGPT app, which reached 5 million downloads in under three weeks on the market. The massive success on iOS is only the beginning as the world awaits the launch of ChatGPT on Google Play.   While the US is the largest market so far for ChatGPT, at 1.5M iOS downloads, the app is gaining traction globally. Given the scale and global distribution of the app stores, the app stands to make sizable inroads into people’s daily lives. Apps tend to garner better engagement and stronger retention than web. In fact, 92% of time spent on mobile devices occurs in apps and games as opposed to mobile web browsers. Hi everyone,  If you haven’t updated to iOS 17, it’s worth doing so to experiment with a few of the new features particularly those that have already led to new features in apps: Carrot Weather -  Thanks to Apple’s new Personal Voice accessibility feature, which mimics a user’s voice, Carrot can now sound just like you when providing weather updates. Generative AI becoming increasingly visual

Over the last few weeks we’ve seen generative AI become increasingly visual. Chat GPT have now integrated with DALL-E 3 in order to offer users the chance to type in prompts into Chat GPT and have a generative AI image appear alongside it. This could be great for trying new recipes or creating story books for kids on the spur of the moment and there could be all sorts of opportunity for standalone apps that build around these concepts. Chat GPT can now also see. Now you can take or upload a photo and have Chat GPT understand the photo and then interact with you based on its understanding of the photo. On the Open AI website they use the example of taking a photo of a bike seat and then asking Chat GPT how to lower the seat. Chat GPT can now understand the context and tell you how to lower the bike seat. This integration could be really useful for all sorts of handy work and opens up the potential for a possible Open AI SDK to be integrated into home and lifestyle apps to further enhanc

The crazy case of Wrapped for Instagram - now shut down

Over the last two weeks a new app has popped up out of nowhere, and shot to the top of the App Store charts in the US and UK - dethroning Temu in the process, before being seemingly removed by Apple completely. Driven by going viral TikTok, Wrapped for Instagram was an app developed by a third party ‘Wrapped Labs’ (i.e. not by Meta) and was marketed as giving Instagram users a Spotify Wrapped style experience. Users could supposedly see how many hours they had spent on Instagram in 2023, who their best friends were and even who had viewed their profile the most (i.e. who’s been stalking you on Instagram). Over 100m had viewed the #InstagramWrapped on TikTok but many of the videos had users claiming it was a scam as the insights from Wrapped for Instagram changed every time users used it and given that users also had to put in their Instagram user name and password, there were very justifiable fears that their Instagram accounts were at risk of being hacked. Users could even choose to s
